  1. Graphic Workshop for Windows 1.1

  5. To install Graphic Workshop for Windows on your hard drive:
  6.  
  7.     1. If you have received Graphic Workshop in an archive, such as 
  8.        a ZIP file, place the contents of the archive on a high density  
  9.        floppt disk. If you have received Graphic Workshop on a floppy 
  10.        floppy directly from Alchemy Mindworks, this has already been 
  11.        done for you.
  12.     2. Place the disk in a floppy drive of your computer.
  13.     3. Open the File menu of the Windows program manager and select Run.
  14.     4. In the Run dialog box, type A:SETUP or B:SETUP, as is appropriate.
  15.     5. Follow the installer instructions... the Setup application will 
  16.        prompt you as required.

  24. Graphic Workshop for Windows requires Windows 3.1 or better. A minimum of four
  25. megabytes of memory is recommended. Note that if you have four megabytes in your
  26. system, but a large part of it is tied up in a RAM disk, a disk cache, as EMS or
  27. in some other form which Windows cannot address it, Graphic Workshop may be unable
  28. to run.

  30. Graphic Workshop for Windows has been rewitten for release 1.1. If you've 
  31. used an older version of the software, you'll find this one considerably 
  32. different.
  33.  
  34. To begin with, it will come up in Thumbnail mode. You will see at least three 
  35. image icons, one or more grey boxes with red circles in them... "no image" 
  36. icons... and icons representing the drives and directories of your system. 
  37. Clicking on these will work just like clicking on the names in the traditional 
  38. list box mode.

  40. You can get to the list box mode by selecting Use Thumbnails from the 
  41. Thumbnails menu. This is a toggle... selecting it again will return you to 
  42. thumbnail mode. You can configure Graphic Workshop to always come up in its
  43. list box mode through the Setup dialog.

  45. There is much more extensive help in this release of Graphic Workshop, with 
  46. Help buttons in most of the dialogs. If you get stuck, click on Help.

  75. Graphic Workshop for Windows has become more powerful, but it hasn't gotten

  116. There is a minor problem with the Kodak Photo-CD support, which appears to be due to 
  117. a bug in the Kodak libraries. Viewing Photo-CD files may orphan a small block of memory. 
  118. This memory will be freed when Graphic Workshop terminates. It's not large enough to 
  119. cause any meaningful problems, but it does make the free memory display in the About 
  120. box change slightly as you work.

  122. If you have any problems with the Photo-CD section... or just some comments... we'd

  125. Graphic Workshop for Windows may encounter difficulty printing to some versions of the
  126. Hewlett-Packard DeskJet 550C driver. This is a known bug, and we're working on it.

  128. Note that the locations of the registration name and number fields have changed... they're
  129. in a box of their own now. Click on Register in the Setup box.
  130.  
  131. Some users have reported problems with installing Graphic Workshop on systems with
  132. relatively little memory. The SETUP program may be unable to uncompress some of 
  133. the files on the distribution disk. If this happens to you, get to the DOS prompt 
  134. and do the following.
